Learn About Antique Jewelry and Antique Silver

Depression Era Jewelry

When the stock market crashed in 1929, life in America changed in an instant. People were thrifty and careful with the very little money they had to spend. Women found fanciful ways to stay in fashion with rhinestones and bakelite. Even wood was carved into jewelry.

This presentation covers the motifs, materials and new jewelry forms that are the hallmarks of this era.

What do atom bombs and jewelry have in common?

This is just one of the unlikely links you will see in this fashionable walk through time as we show how major historical events influenced jewelry styles in the 19th and 20th century.
